On 18th November webinars were held to get those who were not able to attend the first project meeting at the recent SABSA World Conference up-to-speed. Around 20 people attended the webinars.
We asked participants to indicate their reasons for wanting to join the project, their area of expertise and whether they would be open for the role of Group Captain in the next phase.
The main reasons people stated for wanting to join this project are:
1. To share knowledge
2. To improve their personal network
3. To learn about applying security architecture
The number of participants is currently more than 60. We are now recruiting volunteers for the Captain role. A Captain is responsible for collecting and structuring the content produced by a service group. There are currently 20 service groups covering subjects such as Cryptography, IAM, BCM, data protection, etc..
The next step is the assignment of Captains to the service groups. We will provide an Excel spreadsheet as a template for data collection. It is our intention is to have that ready by next week so we can start creating the security services taxonomy.
The goal is to publish the first version of the Security Services Catalogue in Q2 2015.
